Heritage Salvage is an eco-friendly design, build and supply company based in Petaluma,
California. One hundred percent of Heritage Salvage's wood products are sourced from
windfalls or existing structures: chicken shacks, barns, houses, tanks and other structures that
were either in danger, abandoned or no longer being used. 75% of Heritage Salvage wood is
old growth redwood. The wood will be graded, resold or used as is with its natural patina by
Heritage Salvage for remodeling, building, custom-trim, furniture, landscaping,
garden sheds and all that we have not thought of yet! Our mission includes “salvaging the heritage”
of the structures we re-purpose. By photographing the old structure and researching the history
we preserve some heritage of the building.

HS is an active model for sustainable building practices. HS will demonstrate re-sourcing
at every level. By reclaiming wood and building materials from barns and structures that
would otherwise be unrecognized as reusable sources and repurposing the wood into beautiful new products,
HS
contributes to saving space in landfills, preserving trees, and our natural heritage.

HS aspires to teach others to see the beauty in what is the original form - whether it is old wood,
a barn door, a piece of driftwood, a rusty bit or a well-crafted piece of furniture,
and to share the joy of re-purposing existing sources into beautiful new things.
A falling down structure can become beautiful when you reassemble the parts and create with them.

Re-purposing ~ the new byword in the reclaimed, recycled and re-sourced area of building materials.
For example, we re-purpose prune drying trays from the 40's to become shoji screens,
wall coverings and ceiling accents. An old barn beam becomes a mantle piece
and a limestone fencepost is an outdoor bench!
