2008 Float for the Petaluma Butter & Egg Days Parade
on April 26th

The '08 Butter and Egg Parade celebrates the 150th birthday of Petaluma, and we have chosen this
occasion to honor the Miwok Indians, the original inhabitants who named this place . . . Bug has met with the
Tribal Council from the Federated Tribes of the Graton Rancheria and they are joining us on our float.
We do not know for sure, but, this could be the Miwoks 3500th year celebration
of their stay in this place they named Petaluma, which means “sloping ridge” in coast Miwok . . . here
are preliminary sketches of the float - a redwood "kotcha" with a tule boat in tow. Stay tuned for
parade photos in early May when webmistress Mary D. flies in from her southwest spring migration.
