"An old growth redwood speaks in a soft toned voice
of patience and endurance. From a seed no bigger
than a tomato's, Sequoia Sempervirens may grow to a height of 367
feet (122 m) with a width
of 22 feet (7m) at its base."

In the spirit of patience and endurance, Heritage
Salvage brings purpose and skills to wayward youth.
As the redwoods make rain out of fog, we will add purpose to bolster
young spirits.
Our intent is to teach and empower at risk youth to assist themselves
and our at risk planet.
Heritage Salvage is in the process of forming Fogcatchers
Foundation, a 501 c-3 Non Profit Company.
In my search to put together the means to teach carpentry and furniture
building skills to troubled youth,
I ran into a serendipitous groundswell of support and participants.
When you build the right thing,
they will come!
Fogcatchers already has volunteers with their own
businesses and skills to teach:
Art
Cabinet making
Carpentry
Dairy farming
Gardening
Horse Ranching
Landscaping
Music
Motorcycle works
Permaculture
Photography
Recycling/resourcing
Storytelling/writing
Viniculture
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned, and we will
keep updating our progress. This is a concept of
major growth potential! We will happily accept volunteers, suggestions
and donations.
Fogcatchers has a plan to use the redwood not deemed
fit enough for furniture or dwellings.
We would like to go round to all the school grounds and have the
students help us
build their composting worm bins! This would be our first step in
assisting the establishment of
a nutritional curriculum for our schools.
It will, on the other hand, take a little while
to work through the process to get our
501 c-3 and assemble our cohesive selves. The time line of jumping
through bureaucratic hoops to make a non-profit status a reality
is long,
(up to a year). We would, meanwhile, love to get you in our rolodex
and keep you updated with
our progress. Any volunteer assistance and knowledge in the setting
up and streamlining of these endeavors
is also appreciated and humbly accepted!
The first recipient of a composting bin will be
Salmon Creek School in Occidental.
Villa Vista School in Petaluma has also requested one.
Synchronicity rocks!
